Philadelphia Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet expressed gratitude for the extended applause from fans following a 2-3 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 4 of the second-round Stanley Cup playoff series, which sealed a 0-4 sweep.
The Flyers made their first playoff appearance since 2020 this season and advanced past the first round by defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 in the Pennsylvania rivalry.
“I thought it was an amazing moment. I want to thank the fans for that. It was great to have their support and hear them chanting ‘Let’s go, Flyers.’ This might give us a little boost moving forward,” Tocchet said. “I just spoke with Keith Jones (club president of hockey operations). He mentioned how pleased he was to hear fans actively cheering on the players. It means a lot to them. We have the fans’ backing, we’ve put our club back on the map, and we’ve gained perspective on what needs to be done next. I’m very grateful to the fans. It’s truly wonderful.”
