The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres 6-2 at home in Game 3 of their NHL playoff quarterfinal series. Goals for the winners came from Alex Newhook (16th and 56th minutes), Cole Caufield (27th), Zach Bolduc (31st), Juraj Slafkovsky (33rd), and Kirby Dach (49th). Buffalo’s scorers were Tage Thompson (1st) and Rasmus Dahlin (35th).
Montreal’s Russian forward Ivan Demidov recorded an assist. In the playoffs, Demidov has three points (all assists) in ten games.
The best-of-seven series now stands at 2-1 in favor of Montreal. Game 4 is scheduled for the night of May 13 in Montreal.
