The sisters of former biathlon superstar Dorothea Wierer have stepped into the spotlight. Just months after the long-time Italian biathlon icon ended her career, her two siblings scored a impressive prize on a popular TV game show.
On Sunday evening, Italian broadcaster RAI aired a new episode of the hit show “Affari Tuoi” during prime time, featuring some notable guests. In the show, contestants from different regions of Italy compete by selecting from 20 sealed boxes, hoping to find one containing a top prize, with the maximum being 300,000 euros.
For the Trentino-South Tyrol region, Magdalena and Caroline Wierer were selected after a long wait of 21 episodes. “My name is Magdalena, I’m from Antholz in the province of Bolzano. I study education sciences and work as a cross-country skiing and biathlon instructor in winter,” the 24-year-old introduced herself, adding, “My sister Dorothea is a biathlon champion.”
By the end of the show, the two sisters of the former world champion celebrated a rewarding win: Box number 8 earned them 20,000 euros. After their success, Magdalena Wierer wrote on Instagram, “A wonderful time in Rome has come to an end. I sincerely thank all the amazing people I met on this journey, especially my travel companions! I return home with 20,000 euros and many new experiences. THANK YOU!”

Dorothea Wierer concluded her remarkable biathlon career in her home country during the Olympic Games in Antholz, where she secured a silver medal in the mixed relay and two fifth-place finishes in the individual and mass start events. German biathlon star Franziska Preuß also announced her retirement after the Games in Antholz, and the two crossed the finish line together in Wierer’s final race.
