According to sources, in January 2021, Gerard Piqué acquired a significant stake in Aspy Global Services, a company specializing in occupational safety and workplace health prevention. Just days later, it was announced that the company would be acquired and become part of the Atrys Health group.
Piqué purchased 104,166 shares at €2.29 each, totaling €238,500. A week later, he sold the shares at €2.80 each on the stock exchange, netting a €50,000 profit in just a few days by using insider information. Investigators allege that the inside tip about the upcoming acquisition of Aspy Global Services came from the company’s CEO, José Elias Navarro, who was fined €100,000.
Piqué ended his playing career in November 2022. He played for Barcelona from 2008, making 616 appearances, scoring 53 goals and providing 15 assists. With the Catalan club, he won nine La Liga titles, seven Copa del Rey trophies, six Spanish Super Cups, three Champions League titles, three UEFA Super Cups, and three FIFA Club World Cups.
He also earned 102 caps for the Spanish national team, scoring five goals, and won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012, as well as silver and bronze medals at the Confederations Cup.
Since retiring, Piqué has been active in business. He owns the football club FC Andorra, currently 10th in the Segunda División, and runs his own media football tournament, the Kings League.
